There's "snow" place like home and home is exactly what the Purrfect Pals Sanctuary is to the 125+ cats, many with special medical needs, who live here.
The Pacific Northwest has been overwhelmed by snowfall this month and we are definitely experiencing the frustration of "Snowmageddon" up here at our Arlington Sanctuary. Our staff and volunteers have gone above and beyond to make it here to ensure our cats are medicated, fed and warm but it has been a challenge to say the least.
Now that the snow is finally turning to rain and is expected to start melting soon, we will be facing increased expenses at the sanctuary. Our older buildings struggle to keep up with the freezing temperatures so adding space heaters to many of our cat rooms has been necessary. We're really not looking forward to seeing the electric bill when it arrives!
We are also expecting to make some repairs around the property. We will likely need to replace some of the fencing on our outdoor catios and enclosed yards because of damage caused by the weight of the snow. Our parking lot and driveway will likely need additional gravel once the snow is gone because so many of us who did make it to the sanctuary have gotten stuck and needed to dig out our cars. We're hoping the roofing on our four buildings will make it out intact but, because of the snow accumulation, we're also nervous about them.
Will you please send some Valentine's Day love to our cats and help us dig our way out of the snow by giving a gift to Purrfect Pals today?
