Honoring Kathy Centala's Legacy
Gifts in Kathy's Memory Will Help Build the New Veterinary Clinic She Envisioned
Fulfilling Kathy's Dream of a New Feline Health & Wellness Center For Purrfect Pals
In Memory of Kathy Centala - September 11, 1941 - August 16, 2024
Thousands of cats received second chances because Kathy believed Every Cat Matters!
Kathy Centala loved cats. She founded the first no-kill cat shelter in Washington State in 1988, moving from her Brier home to acreage in Snohomish County in 1993. Kathy devoted the house and outbuildings to creating cage-free shelter for cats, especially those with special needs that other shelters did not have space or resources to help. She moved from the master bedroom of the original house to a studio apartment in the Adoption Center & Administration Building that opened in July 2017. She always had cats in her apartment that needed extra TLC. Her last kitty is Tock, who lived with Kathy for more than 15 years and still calls her apartment home.
Before Kathy passed away on August 16th, 2024, she made it clear that she wanted all gifts in her memory to go towards funding our new clinic. She was excited about not only doing more for our Purrfect Pals cats but also helping the community. With the new clinic, we will be able to bring Kathy's wishes and lifetime passion to fulfillment.
In lieu of flowers, cards or gifts, Kathy requested donations to the Securing the Vision- A Campaign for a New Feline Health & Wellness Center.
